I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher, through Netgalley, in exchange for an honest review. Looking for a good book? If you are determined to read the series, then Unmarked by Kami Garcia is a necessary step, but despite the action, nothing much really happens here. I liked the character, I liked the setting, but this had all the earmarks of a second book in a trilogy … it’s a passage to book three, but not a particularly strong book on its own. I actually got bored with this book about half way through and struggled to finish it. That’s not the case, but it never felt as dire as I thought we were supposed to believe. The search for the demon didn’t really strike me as something that was important. My sense is that this was a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing. This book really didn’t have much of a hook. It is easy to see why this series has done well. She’s the sort of protagonist that you want your YA reader to identify with – strong, intelligent, quick thinking, but still human and flawed and working through her flaws and her interests. Celebrating the release of the second book of her solo series, Unmarked (the second book to The Legion Series), Kami Garcia in conversation with Melissa dela Cruz chats about The Legion. We get a real good sense of the dangers and struggles of the Legion. The reality of this dark world is well conceived and brought to life. The story itself, took a little more time to sink in. ![]() ![]() But in the course of this hunt Kennedy comes to learn more about her family history – and she doesn’t necessarily like what she learns.Īs I started this book I was pulled in right away and I was reminded of what I liked so much about the first book. She did so after her mother died and she learned that her mother had been a member and that the Legion was slowly losing the battle against evil (see the first book). Kennedy Waters has joined the Legion – a paranormal organization that fights to defend the world from all manner of demons. ![]() I had really enjoyed the first book in Kami Garcia’s The Legion series, but it’s definitely been awhile since I read it, so it took me a little while to refresh my memory of the story. Since the ring almost touches the bottom of the camera you can use the control ring like you would hold a rangefinder with focus tab. The control ring has a nice feel to it, kind of an aperture ring feel. When the postmaster arrived with a small box I was sure I would get my Panasonic LF1 the day after, but to my surprise, the LF1 was inside that small box! The Panasonic is small and sexy. In a nutshell, it’s just an all around pocket beast. The 10fps burst mode is pretty impressive for a camera that small. Besides the finder the LF1 is an F2.0 Compact Camera with a sharp Leica f/2 lens and does video pretty well. An amazing technological feat if you ask me because that camera has a lot to offer even without the viewfinder. The Panasonic LF1 is unique because it’s the first camera of it’s size to have an integrated electronic viewfinder. When it comes to a pocket camera, the LF1 Lumix is not only a great contender for a pocket camera, but it’s also a pretty amazing multi-tool. One should always be with you because pictures don’t wait for you. I am a firm believer that every photographer should have at least 2 cameras: A non pocketable one and a pocketable one. Even thought he’d retire there at one point. Then, once the defensive back started seeing some game action, he felt right at home. Woodson took time to adjust and get comfortable with his new teammates and environment. “So it just made me combative off the bat with really kind of everybody.” Woodson found good fit with Packers “When I got there, I just had that reluctance in my heart and in my spirit and I just couldn’t believe I was in Green Bay,” Woodson told reporters in July. |
